Pavilion With An Outdoor Kitchen

Our Atlanta clients wanted to make the most of their backyard by adding a pavilion with an outdoor kitchen and fireplace. They wanted an inviting spot  where they could enjoy time with family outdoors and have outdoor gatherings. They also had a big list of features they wanted in their outdoor kitchen — we’ll take a look at those in a bit. Come take a closer look at this enviable outbuilding. We hope it will provide inspiration for your own outdoor space.

Siting the Pavilion With an Outdoor Kitchen

The pavilion’s location, tucked in the back corner next to the woods, makes it an alluring destination that feels like a true getaway. Our clients wanted a picturesque look. Natural materials including  cedar beams and trusses stained a deep rich tobacco hue and fieldstone make the pavilion a focal feature in the backyard.

Pavilion Design and Style

Our in-house design team, headed up by Molly Trost, designed the polished rustic structure in collaboration with architect Kristen Ware, who drafted the plans. We also helped our clients with the soft finishes that make the pavilion so comfortable. The structure shows off its beautiful timber frame construction. And the style of the structure complements the architecture of our clients’ house.

Details like the curved corbels and beautiful lanterns enhance the style of the outdoor pavilion.

Outdoor Fireplace Lounge

The fireplace provides a strong welcoming focal point inside the pavilion. The main event is watching games al fresco while enjoying the fire. The stone fireplace continues the rustic look and ties into the walls. And the heart pine mantel adds a cozy touch. Cedar blinds provide privacy when the leaves have fallen off the trees. And their wood warms and cozies up the space.

While the stone floor adds a rustic touch, the woven lounge furniture provides maximum comfort outdoors.

We integrated a concrete bench to the left that also serves as storage for the fireplace wood. This photo also shows more comforts — outdoor heaters and speakers on the ceiling. These keep the pavilion comfortable from pre-season all the way through to the Superbowl and beyond.

Outdoor Kitchen

Now, for the outdoor kitchen — our clients knew exactly what they wanted. The list included a gas grill, a ceramic Big Green Egg grill, a fridge, storage and a trash pull-out. We used the same stone used on the pavilion’s walls to integrate the kitchen in a seamless way.

At the other end of the kitchen, you can see how the stone continues onto the retaining wall. This anchored the pavilion seamlessly into the landscape.

This photo also show’s the outdoor fridge. We integrated outlets for the blender, crockpot and any other small appliances needed for food prep and warming. The homeowners report that their children have been enjoying the pavilion as much as the adults have. The pizza oven was an instant hit with the kids and their friends.

Here’s a look at how the outdoor kitchens fits in with the lounge area. The family can keep the grillmeister happy, and he or she can keep an eye on the game while putting together a pizza or tending to the burgers.

Since completion, the homeowner has already expressed how much the family has already used the pavilion with outdoor kitchen. They enjoyed a fall season full of cookouts and football game-watching. The pavilion truly gave the homeowners more square footage on their property to enjoy. The ceiling fans, fireplace and heaters allow them to use it year-round.
