Cheerful Kitchen Remodel
This cheerful kitchen remodel in Roswell is a really fun transformation! Our clients’ vibrant personalities and collections like colorful Fiestaware inspired the design. The new bright green walls (Thin Asparagus by Sherwin-Williams) fill the space with a happy energy that plays off our clients’ happy outlook on life. Kitchen Island
The island forms the outer edge of the work triangle in this kitchen. Our clients really liked having their stove in the island so that they could enjoy the view out their existing bay window and socialize while cooking.
The island has deep drawers for ergonomic storage, and handy pull-outs for oils and utensils. While all the cabinet profiles are Shaker with a beaded detail, the island stands out from the rest of the cabinetry in subtle way. This cabinet color is Repose Gray by Sherwin-Williams and the trim color is Atrium White by Benjamin Moore.
Value Engineering a Kitchen Remodel
Here’s the view from the island back toward the hardest working part of the kitchen. This kitchen renovation shows that not every kitchen project has to be a complete gut renovation. We were able to preserve our clients’ existing floors. Also, our clients kept a handful of their existing appliances that they recently had purchased. And because the layout worked well for them, we kept it intact. This avoided the expense of adding or moving plumbing and gas lines. Material Palette
The backsplash is 4-by-4-inch Riad White zellige tile with Alabaster grout. And the countertops are Calacatta Spring quartz with a beveled edge. This has a marble-like look but is more durable and lower maintenance than marble. The finish on the fixtures and hardware is brushed satin nickel.
Smart Custom Cabinetry Storage
Trash and recycling bins hide behind the cabinet panel. But even cooler is the pull-out cutting board above them. So our clients can chop and sweep the discarded parts directly into the bin.
Over the range there are slats in the cabinetry for storing cookie sheets, muffin tins, baking pans and cutting boards.
There’s also a handy spice drawer located close to the island range and this prep countertop.
A new microwave drawer is more ergonomic than the one located in upper cabinets. This is a good move to make when planning to age in place.
And above the microwave, an appliance garage keeps the countertops clear of small appliances. We always include an outlet in an appliance garage so that you can keep everything inside.

Completing a cheerful kitchen remodel meant incorporating our clients’ favorite happy things! In order to give our clients a good spot to keep their colorful FiestaWare collection, we added some open shelving over the sink.
Even our clients’ teapot and mugs make us smile!
Personal and Well-Balanced Design
We were so pleased with the way our in-house interior designer Molly Trost was able to showcase our clients’ vibrant personalities in their kitchen design, and so were they. She took their favorite things and complemented them with the bold green wall paint. At the same time, she let some of their colorful items like the FiestaWare pop by toning down the background color. This is what we call a well balanced design.
A Versatile Design
We’ll end this post with the beautiful view across the island to the windows. It’s worth noting that while this kitchen can be deemed transitional or eclectic, its classic bones (Shaker-style cabinetry, marble-look quartz counters, beadboard wainscoting, hardwood floors) make it very versatile. These elements could lean much more traditional with different accessories.
