Soft and Elegant Bathroom Renovation

This soft and elegant bathroom renovation gave our Atlanta clients a beautiful and calming retreat. Features include a freestanding tub, custom linen closet, large shower and loads of windows that bathe the room in sunlight.

The priority was to make this bathroom feel relaxing and elegant. We achieved this by balancing straight lines with soft curves, adding just the right amount of pattern, and providing plenty of storage to keep clutter at bay.

Soft and Elegant Bathroom Renovation Elements

Bathrooms are full of a lot of hard edges so it’s important to mix in some curves. In this space, the freestanding tub, faucet silhouettes, ceramic garden stool, mirrors, light fixtures, countertop edges and window treatments balance some strong curves into the mix.

In contrast, the hexagonal tile floors, beaded Shaker-style cabinetry, elongated subway tile, drapery rod and architecture ground the room with straight lines. And traditional millwork grounds the traditional-style room in the architecture.

Soft and Elegant Bathroom Renovation Material Palette

To achieve the soft and elegant look, our design team presented our clients with a scrumptious classic palette. It includes a hexagonal marble tile floor, brass fixtures, a clear glass shower enclosure and pleated curtains.

The window treatments add warm tones and pattern into the room. Note that these custom draperies have a special border tape that add to the custom feel.

Finally, the whimsical flora and fauna wallpaper adds soothing colors that make the pattern feel subtle and relaxing. At the same time, it brings pattern into the room that represents our clients’ personalities and personal style.

If you are considering wallpaper for your bathroom, make sure it is well-ventilated. A good contractor will take care of this. There are also moisture-resistant wallcovering options for bathrooms (which come in handy for kids’ baths).

Soft and Elegant Bathroom Renovation Storage

One of the most important parts of keeping a bathroom feeling relaxing is making sure there’s a place for everything. A jumble of bottles and piles of towels take away from a calm vibe.

In response to this, we added extra storage with a beautiful custom linen cabinet. The way the chest portion sticks out and its legs give it a furniture-like feel. But the piece is actually built-in, taking advantage of storage space behind the wall.

Six drawers and extra tall doors provide plenty of space for linens and bath products. And the beautiful piece is an aesthetic asset to the room.

The custom double-vanity also provides lots of storage. Like the linen cabinet, its staggered look gives it a furniture-like feel. As mentioned, the mirrors, sconces and faucets add curves to the space.

This photo also offers a glimpse of what our design team refers to as “the fifth” wall — the ceiling. Don’t forget about the ceiling!

This one is painted a soft gray that plays off the colors in the wallpaper. It’s much more interesting and homey than defaulting to white would have been.

In the shower stall, elongated subway tiles add an updated streamlined look and a neutral backdrop. Gray grout picks up on hues found in the wallpaper. And brass fixtures shine like jewelry in the space.

There is also a built-in shower bench and two large niches for products. You can see these in the previous photos.

This photo offers a closer look at the intricate beveled edges of the mirror frames. The shapes nod to Venetian mirrors in a fresh, less ornate way.

When browsing mirror frames, think of them like art. In this case, we wanted them to add a little something special without taking distracting from the wallpaper.

This was achieved with the lovely silhouettes and the fact that they are all glass. Using a colorful wood or metal frame would have distracted too much from the wallpaper. And it would have interrupted the calming feel of the room.
