Luxurious Primary Suite Renovation

We recently completed this luxurious primary suite renovation for our amazing Buckhead clients. The scope of the project included the primary bathroom, primary closet and primary bedroom. In order to increase the size of their  bathroom and closet, we borrowed space from a seldom-used hallway.

Now the bathroom has a luxurious, spa-like feel, thanks to the use of calming blue wallpaper, custom cabinets with antique mirror doors and a floating quartz bench in the shower. We also made over the bedroom with all new soft finishes, including new furnishings, window treatments and rugs.

Luxurious Spa-Like Feel

One of our in-house interior designers, Molly Trost, worked closely with the clients to get their style just right in the project. One of the most luxurious features in the room is the beautiful freestanding bathtub. Its location under the window takes advantage of natural light. And the traditional look of the filler adds a beautiful classic element to the room. The marble veining in the floor tile also lends a classic feel.  Combined with other finishes like the wallpaper and polished nickel, the bathroom has a spa-like feel.

This photo also shows the beautiful trimwork in the room. Check out the thick crown molding, baseboards and window trim. Along with the wood shutters, these “bones” of the room are traditional.

Small Details Matter in a Bathroom

Little details make a big difference in how a freestanding tub will work. Here, we have towel bars located within reach and added a tub shelf and a small stool for a book, and maybe a glass of wine after a long, Calgon-take-me-away kind of day! The acrylic material of the bench makes it disappear.

Double Vanity With Tower

The couple who share this luxurious primary bathroom each have their own sink and storage areas at the vanity. Again,  marble veining adds a classic touch, this time on the countertop and backsplash. The tower in the middle provides extra easy-to-access storage. Maximize tower storage potential by adding outlets inside and a drawer at countertop level.

We love the curves of these bathroom mirrors. They add softness to the room. This photo also provides a close look at the botanical pattern on the wallpaper. It adds more soft curves and a larger scale pattern in a subtle lattice pattern. The blue tones are serene and promote a sense of calmness in the bathroom.

The large backplates on the sconces and the hand towel rings add light and shine to the room. Sticking with polished nickel on all the hardware, lighting and plumbing fixtures keeps them from becoming a distraction. Instead, the room is very easy on the eyes, again, promoting a sense of calm.

Here’s a wider angle to see how the vanity, tub and shower fit together within the layout. The mirror’s reflection reveals a special piece across the room — a large storage cabinet.

Luxurious Shower Stall

What would a luxurious primary suite renovation be without a luxuriously roomy shower stall? We kept an open feel within the shower by using clear glass on the surround. Classic subway tile, a marble hexagonal floor tileand the long quartz bench continue the classic style of the rest of the room into the shower stall.

Here’s a closer look at the materials we used in the shower. The way the quartz bench floats brings clean-lined calmness to the room. And hexagons and subway shapes are traditional shapes that will never go out of style. Finally, a shower niche keeps toiletries within easy reach.

We repeated the same finishes on all the plumbing fixtures in the house. Once again, you guessed it, classic — polished nickel will never go out of style.

Out favorite feature in the bathroom is this beautiful freestanding storage cabinet. It adds a traditional furniture feel in the room while providing lots of space for storage. The deep drawers are handy for towels and large bottles.

But it’s the top, with its antique glass doors, that add such an elegant touch to the room. The mullion pieces add more soft curves to the room. Also, little details like the simple hardware and feet complete the piece.

Luxurious Primary Bedroom

When embarking on a big project like a bathroom renovation, it’s convenient to spruce up or makeover other rooms at the same time. After all, everyone is already there working! Our clients completed the luxurious primary suite renovation by asking for all new furnishings in the bedroom. Working with Molly, they chose new furniture, bedding, lighting and rugs. A well-edited blend of floral patterns enliven the room, while soft colors provide a sense of calm.

Two swivel armchairs at the foot of the bed provide a lovely spot to read or catch up at the end of the day. Another great addition are nightstands that provide a lot of storage. Note how the scale is just right for the large canopy bed, and the height is just right for reading lamps.
